How to Make Glass Screen Protector Sticky Again

How to Re-employ a screen protector (and remove dust from the gummy side)

  1. Nickexp , Oct ii, 2015 :
Why I made this tutorial: Ok- so basically I had this annoying chimera on my tempered glass screen protector. Information technology had in the center of information technology what looks like a little chip from the glass, which I subsequently institute out subsequently removing the screen protector was dust. Then- to clean it I used the micro-fibre cloth. Big mistake. All of the bits of dust on it just got stuck to the viscous side of the screen protector, so I'll simply walk people though how to practise it right and clean dust off without, well, calculation more than- because when I reapplied it the first fourth dimension it was fifty-fifty worse.

Disclaimer: This tutorial was written based off of my experience with a Tempered Glass screen protector- not sure how well it works with a normal one, if anyone tries it with a normal plastic 1 please let me know how it goes, but it should work the aforementioned.
    Tutorial:
    1.
So first you lot'll want to remove your screen protector- the more dust free the surface area, the ameliorate. I'd recommend turning off any fans and doing it at a clean workspace/desk-bound/whatever. (If for some reason you're screen protector is dust free subsequently removal- skip to step six)

    2. At this indicate you lot'll need sticky record (any blazon will work- I heard y'all need to use packing tape but normal part tape worked fine, if not better, for me and is more readily available).

iii. Now viscous tape the not-sticky side down so that when removing the strips of tape 1 by one from the other side, information technology won't lift off of the table/workspace and you won't have to use your hands to hold it down, getting it dingy and defeating the whole point of doing this in the first place.

four. Now place a strip of viscous tape across the sticky side of the screen protector, make sure it'south actually stuck t the screen protector, and so pare it off. Make certain that you do this over and over, until you accept gotten the whole of that side. This volition safely remove all dust, fingerprints and other things from the pasty side of the screen (and the non-viscid side, but the normal side the micro-fibre cloth is easier to use on that side as information technology has no stickiness to catch the minor bits of it that tin can come off).

    5. Once you've washed this beyond the whole of the side, check for any remaining dust, if in that location is whatever, only reapply tape in that location and pare it off.

    6. Brand sure you lot're devices screen is make clean, specifically of grit and minor particles that volition cause air bubbles- and fingerprints and smudges that will just be abrasive. Also you tin can remove the tape from the non-sticky side of the screen protector that was holding it down, as it is no longer needed.

    7. Now you tin reapply the screen protector, if it isn't glutinous plenty to stick- there are multiple ways effectually this. I didn't run into it as the sticky tape really added stickiness (yous may desire to endeavor that if yous skipped to stride 6), just apparently in a room full of steam yous tin do a "dry install", but the steam method doesn't sound as good, and I feel like it would probably fog up the screen protector a bit, plus I don't feel like putting my phone in a steamy room, so only practice this if the other method doesn't work.

eight. Now use the tool that OnePlus provided (or if you don't accept that, a ruler may work simply your hands is fine) to button air bubbles off to the side and out, if one won't get and information technology looks similar at that place is similar a chip in the screen protector, that is probably dust, then restart if you want to get rid of information technology and pushing it off won't work.

Relish your now-clean screen protectors without any bubbling! I hope this guide helped, if you need help or I wasn't clear enough please mail below and I volition get back to y'all ASAP.

What happened? You don't need whatsoever special tape or anything- just normal office tape is what I used. It should be able to be peeled off (make you lot you accept some hanging off to grab it past). I only did it 1 strip at a time and it worked fine.

EDIT: Also- this tutorial was based off of my experience with the tempered glass screen protector- forgot to mention that, added it to the thread and made some aesthetic changes that will hopefully make it easier to read.

I heard people was just washing them with soap :D

You practise not want any glue on your glutinous or unsticky side... information technology reduces visibility and might reduce the affect adequacy...

And then easier is to purchase a new one... information technology price not that much... a tempered glass tin can be found ~$5...

That's you yous apply sticky record- the glass looked merely as make clean every bit when I got it. As long as the viscous tape isn't filthy information technology'south all good, and the screen protector is just as sticky as it is out of the box. Plus why purchase a new 1 but considering you have a few air bubbles? This is but an alternative to them- obviously if the screen protector is damaged you need a new one.

  14. Nickexp , Oct 2, 2015 :
Yous saying my tutorial works or advising people to get an practiced? I'm dislocated. lol

  15. pgidia , October 2, 2015 :
To take help from expert rather than trying on own ;)

  16. Nickexp , October 2, 2015 :
Yeah- but it is expensive for where I live, plus why carp? Just to get rid of some air bubbling? Non worth it- it's simply and then piece of cake to practice this, it took me like 10 minutes (I was working out how to do it as I went) and information technology worked fine, the screen protector is better placed and just equally (if not more) gluey than before, and so no harm washed.

  17. Nickexp , Oct 2, 2015 :
Don't have 1- but invite begging on threads that accept nothing to practice with invites won't get you lot ane, just saying.
